• Mission statement

The Danish Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DJOG) aims to make publishing easier for both senior and junior researchers, alike. We therefore commit to being a not-for-profit open access journal, where the cost of preparing the papers will be accurately represented in the article processing charge (APC). We will consider all studies regardless of findings, but prioritize studies employing rigorous academic research methodology and written in an easy to understand but correct English language. We will not necessarily reject flawed papers outright, but will try to actively work with the researchers on what can be done to improve it.

Our long term mission is to facilitate publication of research articles relating to the field of obstetrics and gynaecology, without focus on the novelty and impact of the findings. We welcome papers with negative results, replication studies, or other studies that are typically not often cited by other papers and can be difficult to get published. The journal has no ambition to have a high journal impact factor, but will actively work on communicating the findings and message of papers accepted in the journal. This includes the ambition to become registered with the United States National Library of Medicine and National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) PubMed.

  • Open Access

All published articles in DJOG will always be freely available for download on the journal homepage, without any need to register for an account. It is the journal’s intention to seek membership of the OASPA (Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association) and registration in DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) as soon as possible.

  • Not-for-profit

The operation of the journal is not intended to generate profit and DJOG is supported by the Danish Federation of Younger Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (FYGO), as to cover the costs regarding the journal homepage, software, and other basic costs. The article processing charge (APC) will be determined from the average cost per article over the last two years of operation. Special discounts may be applicable for members of FYGO and researchers from countries with limited resources. Please see the pricing section for more information.

  • Language

The official language of the DJOG is English. We accept manuscripts in both American and British English. We are aware that many researchers write in English as their second or third language, but we require that the writing of the paper is easily understandable and precise. For those not comfortable writing in English, we can suggest English editing services that are fairly priced, and that we have no financial connection to.

  • Copyright

Articles submitted to the DJOG are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY), where users are allowed to distribute, adapt, and build upon the articles in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator and authors. The license allows for commercial use.

  • Ownership

To reiterate, DJOG is a not-for-profit organisation managed by volunteers; doctors within the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.
